I've been planning to upgrade my B7500 to a B2910 or a B7800 in order to accomodate a backhoe. I have a chance to buy a '02 B2910 with a FEL & 5' BB with about 50 hrs for 15K. I can get a new B7800 w/FEL & mid PTO for about 15.5K. Is it worth the seat and other good stuff left off a 7800 to go with the 2910 or take the newer tractor and not as much comfort? Any suggestions?

Kubota makes a hoe for the B7500, or are you also looking for a bigger machine? ....

A bigger machine might make sense for what I'm doing. I'm worried about the weight or lack of on the 7500. Also I found a used BL4690 for about half price and figured that since it won't fit the 7500 I would go ahead with the bigger tractor. The soil here is almost all clay and I think the extra weight might come in handy. Maybe what I really should be looking at is will there be that much difference between the 7500 and 7800/2910? Any backhoe experience with these two? ....

There is a significant weight difference between the two classes of tractor: 400 pounds. And, I think just as importantly, there is a significant increase in wheel base which would work in favor of more leverage/digging power.
On the other hand I have done a lot of digging with a BX22 which comes in about the same weight as the 7500 and I had no complaints about the backhoe performance. ....

I can tell you from personal experience that whichever size you go with, it is better than digging by hand. ;-) ....

There is a good difference between the two and I do like the features on the 2910 if you are looking at keeping the unit for long. To use the loader you will find that the mid range is the best and a big advantage over the 7500 two range transmission. The bigger rubber also helps to get around on a site with a lot of digging. We do have a lot of clay here so I know what you have to work with. ....
